Grandma Angie put together a photo binder of the many quilts she made or helped make. She crafted quilts for her kids, probably all of her grandkids, many great-grandkids, some neighbors, her siblings, and countless friends. Grandma Angie was never one to waste anything—she fashioned quilts from the “scraps of the scraps of the scraps” and the “scraps from my light colored dresses and house coats.” Even Uncle Dave Lyman discovered he loved a “scrap satin ‘nap blanket’.” The binder holds over 180 photos of different quilts, paired with a summary sheet detailing the hours she poured into each one. You can see those hours of quilting reflected in her hands.
I’ll bet most of us have cuddled up and slept in one of her quilts. Thanks be to our grandma for sharing her talent to keep us wrapped in the arms of her love and for teaching us the value of every last piece!
