Brief Life Sketch

Willis and Angie were married shortly before he went to serve in WWI. Their son Asael was born after he returned.

He farmed in Delta, went to school in Provo, taught seminary in Lyman, Wyoming and was a postmaster in Rexburg, Idaho.

He was an avid student of the Old and New Testament and many grandchildren remember his teaching them the stories.

Angie said of him, “Willis may not have made a lot of money but he was an influence for good in many lives. He was loved by all the members of the wards over which he presided.”

Angie also said, “It has never bothered me to scrimp and scratch as we have gone along. I knew Willis loved me and was good to me and was a good father to our children and that was all that mattered. He left me with a comfortable home, no debts, good health insurance and his retirement benefits.”

One of his favorite poems was “The House by the Side of the Road” by Sam Walker Foss

Let me live in a house by the side of the road,
Where the race of men go by -
The men who are good and the men who are bad,
As good and as bad as I.

I would not sit in the scorner’s seat,
Or hurl the cynic’s ban -
Let me live in a house by the side of the road.
And be a friend to man."
