Brief Life Sketch
George is Angie’s grandfather.
“George was born in West Curthwaite, England and as a small boy was sent to live with a rich uncle who had no children. It was expected that he would inherit everything, but when he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they disowned him.
He married Anne Emersen and had a baby girl, Mary, but she would not join the church or emigrate to the US.
He settled in Fillmore and brought the first load of rock to Cove Fort.
He married Susan Trimble and lived in Oak City in a dugout made with adobe bricks. Their first child, George Edward, was born there. He served as Ward Clerk for 37 years.
His advice was to go into a business and stay in it whether the price went up or down. He thought that if he couldn't find work for $1.00 a day, he would work for fifty cents. He was very prompt in the payment of his obligations.
He was true to his religion and to God.”
