Brief Life Sketch
Eddie is Angie’s son.
“Eddie Finlinson Lyman, the fourth child of Willis Jay and Angie Finlinson Lyman, was born July 12, 1928 in the family home in South Delta, Millard Co. Utah.
He had black hair and dark brown eyes . He was blessed and given his name by his father, Willis Jay Lyman 5 August 1928 in the Delta Third Ward.
Eddie gained in weight and did well for about five weeks. At this time his brother Asael was afflicted with croup. Baby Eddie was hoarse and seemed to have the same thing. His mother took him to the doctor in Delta. After the examination, the doctor said it was not a cold that ailed him but his hoarseness was caused from his heart.
The following day Eddie’s father quizzed the doctor and was told that the baby was a “blue baby”, that when the baby was born the valve in his heart failed to close. He said he didn’t think it was anything immediate and that he might live two or three years.
The following Tuesday August 21, 1928, little baby Eddie died peacefully in the baby buggy that had served as a crib. His mother, Aunt Lucy, and five and half year old sister Millie, witnessed his passing. It was a great relief to his mother to see him go peacefully. His passing was not as hard on his mother as was when his trouble was diagnosed.
Funeral services were held in Delta Third Ward church at South Delta, August 22, 1928.
Blaine, in trying to comfort me said, ‘Mama, I will go to the mountains and get you another baby.’”
